Chaudhary Charan Singh University also called Meerut University is located in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The Meerut university was established in 1965. It was later renamed to its current name after Chaudhary Charan Singh, former Prime minister of India. The University celebrated its silver jubilee in 1991 and now it is one of the premier educational institutions of the country.


Campus

The university has a vast campus outside the city in a pollution-free environment which sprawls over 219 acres (0.89 km2) of land with vast playgrounds and experimental fields, botanical garden, rose garden with life-size statue of the late Prime Minister Ch.Charan Singh, gymnasium, indoor stadium, well equipped library, administrative block, spacious auditorium, guest house, community centre and medical centre. The various teaching departments under different faculties are housed in spacious buildings and have well-equipped laboratories.


Programs

The academic programme exposes the students to practical aspects through seminars, group discussions and lectures of experts invited from other institutions. The University has always been proud of its alumni who are occupying high positions of great responsibilities and distinction in educational and research institutions in India and abroad, administrative positions in the industries, defence and civil services. Meerut University


Meerut University is the famous university of Meerut that is now more popularly known as Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCS) University. This university was established in the year 1966 to cater to the higher education needs of western Uttar Pradesh. Meerut university campus is spread over 219 acres of land where you find many recreational buildings, hostels, various teaching departments and facilities and a rose garden where there is a life size statue of the late Prime Minister, Chaudhary Charan Singh.

Meerut University is proud to be the first university in India to introduce the M.Phil programme. This system employed the semester system with an evaluation system of students who are made to participate in quizzes, seminars and tests. All the academic programs of Meerut University are devised so that students get exposed to practical aspects of their subjects through these seminars, group discussions and listening to lectures of experts from other institutions.

Meerut University is proud of its alumni where most of them are occupying high positions of great responsibilities in both educational and research institutions both in India and abroad. Its alumni also occupies administrative positions in industries, civil services and defense. Meerut University offers post graduate education and research programmes in Science, Arts, Agriculture, Science and Management. Meerut University also offers quality education in technology and computer studies along with Advanced Diploma and Certificate Courses in languages like Sanskrit, German, French and Russian. There are plans to start departments of Geology, Geography, Defense Studies, Library Science and Biochemistry pretty soon.

CCS University Meerut



One of the most famous universities of India is the CCS University Meerut, the former Meerut University. CCS is the acronym of Chaudhary Charan Singh the late prime minister who this university is named after. The CCS University Meerut was established in the year 1966 while it celebrated its silver jubilee in 1991.

CCS University Meerut has a huge campus of over 219 acres located outside Meerut. The campus has large playgrounds, a botanical garden, experimental fields and a rose garden housing the life style statue of the late Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. In addition to all this, there is also an indoor stadium, a spacious auditorium, an administrative block, guest house, a community center, a well equipped library and a medical center on the campus.

The different teaching facilities and departments of CCS University Meerut are found in different spacious buildings which each has well equipped laboratories. The CCS University Meerut is proud to be the first university in India to start the M.Phil. Program. The specialty of this program is that it has a semester system, and conducts continuous evaluation of the progress of its students through tests, quizzes and seminars.

There are seven hostels in the CCS University Meerut where three are meant for boys, three for girls and one for sports. These hostels of the university provide excellent hostel accommodation for a stipulated number of bonafide, full time students who pay their fees regularly. These hostels for boys can accommodate about 200 boys while the girls’ hostels have a total accommodation of 186 rooms.

CCS University Meerut is famous in India for its achievements in sports and games. It has produced numerous players who have reached both national and international levels. You can find many athletic meets being organized here, along with inter-collegiate sports activities like basketball, hockey, cricket and wrestling.
